Carver Early Learning Center was founded in the
early 1940’s by Mrs. Permilla Woods in a small grocery store. As
the center grew, it moved several times until a permanent home was built at
its current location in the Chatman Hill neighborhood. Carver ELC is licensed for 82 children, ages birth through school age.
Carver has five classrooms and two playground areas for the enrolled
children to use. |

Vanda Early Learning Center is licensed for 160 children and they serve children ages birth
through school age. Vanda has seven classrooms including two
infant, two-year old and preschool classes. They have three large
playgrounds that the children use. Vanda ELC has been in the present
location, in East Lubbock, since 1979, easily accessible from I-27 or Loop
289.

Talkington Early Learning Center is licensed for 160 children and they
also serve children ages birth
through school age.
Formally known as Erskine ELC, this center was re-named in December
2010 in appreciation of J.T. and Margaret Talkington's generosity to the
children of ELC. Talkington has been in the present location, in North Lubbock, since 1984.
Talkington
ELC has three preschool classrooms, two two-year old, infant, and
one-year old classrooms.

New Directions Early Learning Center is a cooperative venture between the Early Learning Centers
and the Lubbock Independent School District to care for the children of teen parents
attending LISD and located in Matthews Alternative High School. The center
is licensed for 76 children ages birth to five years old. The center operates on a schedule identical
to the LISD school calendar and is open to LISD students who have children. LISD students may
choose to have their child attend New Directions ELC while they attend Mathews, Monterey,
Coronado, Lubbock, Estacado or any LISD Jr. High.
All food and baby formula is provided by ELC.

Guadalupe Early Learning Center is licensed for 110 children and cares for children ages birth through
school age. The center is located next to the Catholic Family Services and is located in North Lubbock.
Guadalupe ELC was one of the first Early Learning Centers. They have
been at the current location since 1970. The center has two preschool
and two year old rooms and a large multi-purpose room that can be used as a
classroom for school-aged children or a large motor room when the weather
does not permit the children to go outside.
Guadalupe ELC has
two large playgrounds that the children use, weather permitting.
